At the COP-ESD beginner welding camp at the Industrial Arts Institute in Onaway, students will develop basic gas metal arc welding or shielded metal arc welding and handheld plasma cutting knowledge and skill application. Students will experience first-hand what it is like to operate various equipment used in the welding industry and apply their newfound skills to create small creative projects to take home. This interactive experience will spark students’ interest and stretch their minds as they experience the exciting world of a welder and metal fabricator. . Clothing requirements for safety: Shirts must be long sleeved, made of cotton, wool or fire-retardant materials. Long pants are required, no synthetic, poly blend clothing, or ripped or frayed jeans. Leather work boots required. Steel toed preferred. Lunch is provided
