The PTO Canadian Open will be a landmark event. With a spectacular location, closed-roads course and the opportunity to race your race and watch the pros, this is a triathlon experience you won’t want to miss.
100km
The 100km race format will test your endurance and speed like never before and we’ve got something really special in store for you at the PTO Canadian Open.
Your race gets underway with a wetsuit-legal 2km freshwater swim in the heart of the city. Once out of T1, you’ll face a challenging closed-roads, multi-lap 80km bike course that takes in the beauty of river valley. The largest urban parkland in North America – some 22 times larger than New York’s Central Park – river valley showcases a variety of elevations through its hilly landscape overlooking the North Saskatchewan River and downtown Edmonton.
The run offers flatter terrain through the trees on mixed paved and crushed gravel trails revealing the true beauty and nature of the green belt. The course immerses you in an urban setting like no other, packed with culture and landmarks for the eye to see on the way to a spectacular finish fit for the world’s best.
With over 80% of the course recently re-paved and accompanied with closed roads and pathways, you can focus on their race without any distractions. Meanwhile, wave starts and a 20m draft rule will make for as fair a race as possible.
25km
The 25km race format is the perfect choice for those dipping their toes into triathlon for the first time – or athletes wanting to put it all out there for a high-intensity ultra-fast time.
The 500m wetsuit-legal freshwater swim is the perfect distance to put your pool training to the test. Next, you’ll take on a challenging one-lap bike course within the safety of closed roads. Finally there’s a flat and fast 4.5km run that’ll lead you to a hero’s welcome at the finish.
