Description
Has your child attended skating classes or the Showtime skating class and wants to take her/his figure skating to the next level? Come join in the fun at the Stephen C. West Ice Arena this summer as professional coaches teach students a well-rounded figure skating curriculum including on- and off-ice skills, stretch/dance, edge work, choreography, jumps, spins, and education on the different elements of figure skating and styles.
Advanced Figure Skating camp meets Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, August 5th, 6th,7th,8th. From 10am -3pm. Ice times are 10:15am-11:45am and 1:15pm-2:45pm. Lunch and off ice training 11:45am-1:15pm.
Drop-off is 10am and pick-up 3pm. Drop-off and pick-up are located at the Stephen C. West Ice Arena at 0189 Boreas Pass Road in Breckenridge.
Students complete approximately 3 hours on-ice and 1 hour off-ice each day. Lunch is 30 minutes. Please dress appropriately and bring Lunch, water and snacks. Gym shoes also required for off-ice work.
Registration Deadline: Monday, August 5th OR until full.
Cost is $400
Students need to be at a pre-free skate level to participate in the advanced figure skating camp.
Pre-Free Skate:
Forward inside open mohawk from standstill position right to left and left to right.
Backward crossovers to a backward outside edge glides. Landing position clockwise and counterclockwise.
Backward outside edge to a forward outside edge transition, clockwise and counterclockwise.
Two forward crossovers into a forward inside mohawk, step down and cross behind, step into one backward crossover and step to one forward inside edge, clockwise and counterclockwise.
Spins: one-foot upright spin, optional entry and foot position. minimum 3 revelations.
Jumps: Mazurka right and left waltz jump.
Backwards inside pivots, clockwise and counterclockwise.
