Stage 1: Monaco

Fabian Cancellara proved yet again why he's perhaps the greatest time trialist in history, crushing the field to win Stage 1 in Monaco.

One his way to a 19-minute, 32-second finish, Cancellara passed reigning Giro d'Italia champion Denis Menchov, who finished more than a minute and half behind in 53rd place. Defending Tour champion Carlos Sastre, not known for his time trial abilities, came in 21st, 1:06 behind the Team Saxo Bank rider.
