Typically on Mother's Day, it's a time for families to be together. Usually a big brunch or lunch is involved, which is nice, but you may consume too many calories in one sitting.
Instead of the family gathering at a table, why not head outside for a family day of activities. You'll stay active together, burn calories, and create memories.

Run as a family in a family-friendly 5K. There's always so much fun energy at a Mother's Day run
and you can cross the finish line as a family.
If there's not a race near you, why not create your own competition. You can see who can run the longest or fastest. Or, take this time to include your family in your training. At least you're maintaining your training and including your family.

Go for a Bike Ride
Encourage everyone hop on their bikes and go for a ride. You can ride to your favorite store, park, lake or beach. Pack a picnic and ride to a park—this way you can spend more time together.
Make sure everyone knows the road laws and wears a helmet.
Take a Hike
There's no better way to explore nature than with your family. You get a great low-impact workout; discover new animals, plants and trails. Plus, this is a time you can talk to your family about what's going on in everyone's life.

Ask another family to play a softball game with you and your kids. This way you can make it a friendly competition. Raise the stakes and make the losing family cook dinner for the winners.
A Few Other Ideas
- Go camping.
- Head to the beach or lake for a swim.
- Go to the driving range or golf course together. If you're just out there for fun why not play a scramble.
- Doubles anyone? Why not swing the racket around for a game of tennis.
- Take a family fitness class.
Enjoy your time together; that's what Mother's Day is all about.
