About This Activity
Description
This is a beginning to intermediate course in “pop” songwriting (meaning folk, rock, country, R&B, etc.). It will explore the practice of writing lyrics, chord progressions, and melodies – and how they fit together in song form. Expect mini-lectures, exercises, and workshops (the peer review of ideas). No songwriting experience required: this could be your very first song. Some musical background, and passion, are helpful. Darius Degher, veteran recording artist and poet, will be your guide.
