Transfer and Deferment Details
The MCM has two unique programs, distinguishing its commitment to the runners from other similar events. After registering, some runners ultimately decide they are unable participate in the 36th MCM. These runners may opt to transfer their entry to a non-registered runner through the event's unique Transfer Program. Registered runners have until late September to transfer an entry by submitting an online transfer form. The transfer form (available June 7 - September 23) is available on the Register menu of the MCM website. Another option is to hold on to an entry but defer participation from 2011 to 2012. The deferment form will be available on the MCM website starting March 30. Both services charge a $30 fee. Transfer and Deferment Details
MCM10K Registration Opens
10K reflects the distance as well as the registration capacity. Sold out each of the past three years, the MCM10K starts on the National Mall and shares the inspirational finish line of the MCM at the Marine Corps War Memorial. The course requires runners maintain a 15 minute-per-mile pace and due to safety concerns handcycles or wheelchairs are not permitted. Registration is now open and a spot awaits those not already committed to the MCM. MCM10K Registration Opens
New Course Insider Info
It is the time of year when the MCM staff visits various law enforcement jurisdictions and neighborhood associations gathering the necessary approvals to host the beautiful 26.2 mile MCM course. The 2011 course will differ from recent years with minor changes due to construction on Constitution Avenue. While the new course hasn't been finalized, anticipated changes include a closer view from the west side of the Lincoln Memorial and a tour on the south side of the National Mall near the Korean and World War II Memorials. As in past, a 14 minute-per-mile pace will be required with check points at the Mile 17.5 Gauntlet and Mile 20's Beat the Bridge. New Course Insider Info
