Sure you can get up extra early on race morning and drive to Fredericksburg, but why not take advantage of your Historic Half commitment and book a weekend stay. Charming downtown Fredericksburg awaits with historic sites, quaint shops and unique merchants.

Historic Half runners will have one less thing to think about on race morning with the introduction of the new B-tag timing device. Unlike the previously-used chip and loop tag that required runners affix a transmitter to shoelaces, the new
B-tag is connected to reverse side of the runner's bib.

The Healthy Lifestyle Expo, on Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15 is located at the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center.  The Expo showcases health, fitness, food and exercise through featured vendors such as Chick Fil A, New Balance, Geico, Camille's Sidewalk Cafe and Jelly Belly Sport Beans.  Mary Washington Healthcare will present Runnin' Down A Dream. Your Path to Better Health-a booth featuring information about illness and injury prevention with a blood pressure machine, carseat inspection, hula hoops, Wii fit and goodie bags.  The Expo also hosts Packet Pick-up.  Runners must present their E-Confirmation Card to obtain the official bib, B-tag, competitor shirt and race program provided by the Free Lance-Star.

Free shuttle service will be offered from the Healthy Lifestyle Expo to downtown Fredericksburg throughout the day on Saturday, May 15.  On race day, free shuttles to and from the start/finish area will be available for runners and spectators via the Route 17 commuter lot located on US 17 North, toward Warrenton. The commuter lot is located just off I-95 at Exit 133.  The race-day shuttle will operate from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  There will be no parking at the Expo and Conference Center start/finish area.  The Historic Half encourages ride sharing to Fredericksburg.

The sights and sounds of entertainers will energize the Historic Half course with jazz, bluegrass, classical, show tunes and hard-driving rock n' roll. Runners and spectators can catch the Blue-Gray Therapy Dogs and Stardust the therapy horse along Kenmore Avenue. Remember to wave to the Band of Brothers motorcycle club parked along Carl D. Silver Parkway supporting the runners.

With a brand new course and a shared start and finish with the Historic Half, the Semper Fred 5K is a great way to participate in Historic Half weekend.  Registration is still open for the Semper Fred 5K presented by the Free Lance Star on May 16.

The Historic Half course includes six water points, two medical aid stations, a food station and many Fredericksburg landmarks.  Print the course map or preview the run with a turn-by-turn course description.  Fredericksburg residents should note all race morning road closings.

Finisher results and split time information will be accessible through the Historic Half website beginning on event day.  A downloadable finisher certificate will be available to Historic Half participants for the first time in 2010.

Visit the Historic Half online store to purchase exclusive technical apparel and the official 2010 “Inspired” in-training shirt.  The entire of Historic Half clothing line will be on sale at the Healthy Lifestyle Expo.  Runners may commemorate their run through MarathonFoto images.  Multiple photos will be taken of every runner including a finish line shot with the medal and historic figures.  Lasting Commemoratives offers plaques and other keepsakes featuring original Historic Half-inspired artwork.

In 2009, the MCM became the largest event to date to earn the distinction of silver certification for sustainable initiatives.  Environmental consultant, Athletes for a Fit Planet, will team with the MCM to apply sustainable efforts to the 2010 Marine Corps Historic Half.  Fredericksburg's Clean & Green Commission will contribute to the success of this campaign.  More details and information about how runners can support the cause on the new Green page of the Historic Half website.
