All Historic Half and Semper Fred participants have been emailed the official e-Confirmation Card to facilitate Packet Pick-up check in at the Healthy Lifestyle Expo on May 13-14. At Packet Pick-up, runners will receive their bib with timing device and New Balance competitor shirt. The Expo, held at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center, showcases health, fitness, food, exercise and more featuring vendors like Mary Washington Healthcare, Geico, New Balance, Chevrolet, MarathonFoto and the Historic Half Store. The 2011 Historic Half event program features important transportation information, course maps, the weekend schedule plus runner features, sponsor details and more. The interactive program is exclusively online -there will be no distribution of the program at the Expo. Runners are encouraged to read the program in advance of event weekend. Getting Around Half Weekend
Free shuttle service will be offered from the Healthy Lifestyle Expo to downtown Fredericksburg throughout the day on Saturday, May 14. On race day, free shuttles to and from the start/finish area will be available for runners and spectators via the commuter lot located on US 17 North, toward Warrenton. The commuter lot is located just off I-95 at Exit 133. The race-day shuttle will operate from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.. There will be no parking at the Expo and Conference Center start/finish area. The Historic Half encourages ride sharing to Fredericksburg. An additional race-day shuttle will be available to transport spectators from Central Park to downtown Fredericksburg on mile seven of the Marine Corps Historic Half course. Music and Motivation over the Miles
There's nothing half way about this all-in entertainment bonanza on the Historic Half course. Get motivated by live bands, dancers, cheer zones, choirs and even a dog petting station. The sights and sounds of entertainers will energize the Historic Half course with jazz, bluegrass, classical, show tunes and hard-driving rock n' roll. Among the unique sights along the course will be the Liberty Hall Fife & Drum Corps, WFLS, Fredericksburg Classic and Muscle Car Club and the amazing aerial display of the American Flag. Relay This Message: Registration Still Open for Half Relay
Registration is still available for the Historic Half relay. Two-person running teams who together will complete the Historic Half, running 6.55 miles each. Relay runner "A" will charge the Historic Half course through Central Park to the relay exchange point at intersection of Pelham Street and Fall Hill Ave. Runners cross the timing mat to officially clock out for the first portion of the run. While there is no official hand off, the "B" relay runners will join Historic Half participants to complete the final 6.55 miles of the course by crossing the start mat in the Quarles lot. Semper Fred 5K Offers New Course and Cool Medals
With a brand new course and a shared start and finish with the Historic Half, the Semper Fred 5K is a great way to participate in Historic Half weekend. Registration is still open for the Semper Fred 5K presented by the Free Lance Star on May 15. For the first time in the event's history, finishers will receive a diamond shaped medal. Drew Carey Aims to Start and Finish the Historic Half
Comedian and "The Price is Right" game show host Drew Carey will make his half marathon debut at the Marine Corps Historic Half. Carey announced his plans to run in a March 14 tweet. In addition to running, Carey also will serve as the official starter of the half marathon event. Carey served six years in the Marine Corps Reserves from 1981 to 1987.
