How to Beat Hospital Hill by VA Runner
The half mile leading up to Historic Half mile marker eleven has come to be known as "Hospital Hill" as this portion of the course runs adjacent to Mary Washington Hospital. Jeff Van Horn from Fredericksburg's VA Runner offers tips for getting over the top. 1-Include hills in training runs. For runners living close to Fredericksburg, it will be a worthwhile exercise to practice running Hospital Hill itself. 2-Hill repeats can help with strength, speed and form. Pick a shorter hill about 20 to 50 meters long. Practice running up and walking down. Gradually increase the amount of reps. 3-Upper body strength can help power runners up the hill. Spend some time in the weight room working arms, chest and upper back. How to Beat Hospital Hill by VA Runner
