The 5K run/walk is timed and welcomes competitors of all ages and fitness levels. You can try to improve your personal best, race your best friend to the finish line or take a leisurely stroll. The course is level and entirely on pavement. You finish the last half mile running back into Robinson Park where the music from the DJ and the cool refreshments reward your hard work. The event includes a post-race festival complete with a silent auction, prizes for the top three male and female finishers in a variety of age groups and of course, the beer tent . There is an entire kid's area with inflatables, snow cones and popcorn and other fun activities for kids. The event is put on by the Woman's Club of Windsor and raises funds to support the FoodBank of Southeast Virgninia's BackPack program at Windsor Elementary. The program sends a backpack full of nutritious food home with qualified students every other Friday duriing the school year.
