We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Monday, April 27, 2020.
Maximal or Sub-Maximal VO2 Assessment
VO2 stands for volume of oxygen consumed by the muscles during activity. VO2 testing measures the ability of your muscles to use oxygen in order to convert fat to energy during exercise. The greater your capacity to consume oxygen, the greater your ability to burn fat for energy, and generally speaking the greater your level of fitness.
A tailored stress test (walking/running) protocol on the treadmill. The test will last approximately 20 minutes
If performing a MAXIMAL test the person will be pushed as hard as they can go; if SUB-MAXIMAL the person will be pushed to 75-85% predicted max heart rate; this will be determined by appraiser and Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q)
The person will wear a mask and heart rate monitor which will measure breathing rate, breathing volumes and oxygen and CO2 content;
The measures will be interpreted by the appraiser to assess how well the muscles can consume oxygen
* 45 minute appointment
* Avoid eating or consuming caffeine or cigarettes for at least 2 hours before the test
* The test does not need to be first thing in the morning, but cannot be done on a day when the person has already exercised
* Please bring loose fitting exercise clothes and running shoes
* Results are available immediately
AFTER REGISTRATION PLEASE CONTACT DR. MARCIA MILNE TO SET APPOINTMENT DAY AND TIME.
