About this event

Description

We're sorry, but this class is over. The last meeting was Thursday, August 19, 2021.

Calling all singers -- true beginners, choristers, car carolers, and shower singers! Do you love to sing but have never had formal training—would you like to learn some of the helpful mechanics? Do you sing in a church or school choir during the academic year and are now looking to focus on your vocal technique? Then join us as we work on basic technique by way of some the most beloved jazz standards!

This class is designed for older teens and adults who do not necessarily have any music reading skills or singing background, but love standards such as “Georgia on My Mind” or “Feelin’ Good,” to name just two. Topics covered include body alignment and vocal alignment, breathing to sing and breath control, resonance, diction, and articulation. Students also gain some exposure to theory basics and sight singing.

For more information, please contact Joyce Lundy, Voice Department Chair, at 202-686-8000 x1108 or JLundy@levinemusic.org.
