1 mile Family Fun Run

Runners of all ages and abilities are invited to join us for a 1 mile Family Fun Run across the bridge. For just $1 per runner, you and your family can get out and enjoy the spectacular view and family fun. The 1 mile Fun Run will NOT be timed, and we do not give away race T-shirts in this category.

Bag Drop & Dropped Gear on the 10 Mile Course

For those that want a dry pair of socks or their cell phone waiting for them at the finish line, you can drop a small bag with us at the start and we'll transport to the finish. YOU MUST LABEL YOUR BAG! Your bag will be watched, but we are not responsible for lost or stolen items. All items dropped on the 10 mile course will be picked up by our sweep vehicle. PLEASE NOTE that the sweep vehicle will be behind the LAST runner. So you may wait for that favorite jacket you dropped...

Move & Improve

Thank you to EMHS Move & Improve for encouraging their participants to run the bridge! If you are a Mover and Improver, please be sure to tell us that's how you heard about Bridge the Gap.

No headphones, please.

The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. Running headphone-free allows opportunities to develop camaraderie with your fellow runners. Plus, volunteers will be on course cheering you on and providing directions to help get you to the finish line. Runner safety has always been, and will continue to be, a top priority for our event. Please be mindful of the other participants and respect the race personnel to ensure a safe and enjoyable race for everyone.

Join us for our second annual race across one of Maine's newest and highest bridges. The 2,120 foot span connects the shores of Prospect and Verona Island with outstanding views of the Penobscot River, Fort Knox, and Bucksport. We begin our race at the historic Fort Knox and cross over the bridge for the first mile. The 10 mile course continues around quiet Verona Island; the 5k course is a partial out-and-back on Westside Drive, Verona. All races finish at the Verona Island rest area. A shuttle bus will take runners and spectators back to your cars parked at Fort Knox. Register online to save time and race fees. Bring the whole family for a 1 mile Fun Run at only $1 per runner. Children ages 12 and under are required to have an adult runner/companion.
