We all know at least one person affected by Dementia or Alzheimer's disease, and many of us have seen these debilitating neurological abnormalities influence our friends or family first hand.
Perhaps you're even giving care to a friend or loved one with dementia. If so, this experience is an absolute must!
This winter season, the Urbana Park District will be hosting VR (Virtual Reality) education. Participants will use VR to embody Beatriz, an independent woman who has developed Alzheimer?s disease. During the simulation participants will relax in the park with family, take a shopping trip, host a Thanksgiving dinner, and much more, all while experiencing progressively worsening dementia symptoms. Each simulation will be followed by a group discussion with a knowledgeable instructor and other community members like you.
Technology used for the education was created by Embodied Labs and supplied by Clark-Lindsey. No prior virtual reality or computer experience will be necessary to complete the education.
