We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Saturday, September 14, 2019.
A labyrinth is a flat design with a single winding path from the outer edge to the center. Labyrinths date back thousands of years and are found world-wide from Africa, Asia and Europe, to the British Isles and Scandinavia.
Labyrinth walking practices have been used globally for centuries for meditation, reflection, prayer, healing, and personal/ spiritual development.
Labyrinths were often built into stone floors of medieval European cathedrals. A 12th century labyrinth in France?s Chartres Cathedral is the most famous, walked by thousands. Urbana Park District?s Crystal Lake Labyrinth is a perfect replica of the Chartres labyrinth, used for local labyrinth walking.
Mindful Labyrinth Walking is a fusion of traditional labyrinth walking with easy Alexander Technique mindfulness practices for calming, stress reduction, and other benefits. Mindful Labyrinth Walking practices require no skill or prior experience.
Alexander Technique teacher and Veriditas Labyrinth Facilitator Rebecca Ferguson has taught Mindful Labyrinth Walking since 2009, focusing on issues such as PTSD, stress, and addiction.
