Set in World War II, an unconventional love story that deals with issues of racial prejudices, war, and love. Known for its show stopping music, this epic production centers on a group of American sailors and nurses stationed in the South Pacific. As the war against Japan escalates, reality sets in for Nellie Forbush and Lt. Joe Cable, struggle to reconcile their two parallel love affairs with their long-held biases and insecurities. In order to provide background, perspective and understanding, students will meet with a distinguished panel of men and women veterans that served in WWII.
