Born to Run Tralee Marathon Club are proud and excited to bring you the 5th annual Born to Run 40 Mile Ultra Marathon. Taking place on Saturday July 27th in the town of Tralee, this 40 Mile Ultramarathon consists of ten 4 mile loops. The course is made up of a relaxing (and flat) 1 mile river walkway (concrete) and country roads (not quiet flat in places). Each loop has two hills of approximately 0.5 miles each and have a climb of about 90 feet each. These hills are immediately followed by an equal downhill section which will be a welcome relief after the climb.
There are three variations to this challenge: The classic 40 Mile Ultramarathon: Run the full 40 Miles on the course as and earn the title of being an ultra-marathoner; the two person tag team, where you and a friend take on 20 Miles each of the course to complete the whole 40 Miles; and the 4 person relay team, where your team must complete the 40 Miles each participant has to run a minimum of two consecutive loops of the course, before passing on the baton to your teammate for their leg of the challeng. Teams can only have 4 legs so strategy will be key In deciding who will be the person to do four loops or which teammates will do three loops.
