DINGLE WAY CHALLENGE
On Sunday 5th June 2016 the fourth Dingle Way Challenge will take place as we welcome you to West Kerry to take on the challenge and take in some of the best scenery in Ireland.Description This promises to be an exceptional day in the mountains and on the beaches, with the banter of a walking group, taking in the surroundings and the history of West Kerry. You will walk around the most westerly peninsula in Europe, look out over the stunning Blasket Islands and Skellig Rock and take in the magic of Inch Beach. Starting at the foothills of Annascaul Lake the trek combines a mixture of beach, grass path and road walking and tells the story of the Irish speaking heartland made famous by the fim Ryan's Daughter.
The Challenge is ideal for groups, friends, teams and solo hikers alike (minimum age 18). There are 2 options available for booking: 1. The Dingle Way Challenge - 45km staged trek taking in a mixture of beach walks, grass paths and road walking. 2. The Ultra Dingle Way Challenge - 57km trek which starts at the foothills of the famous Conor Pass and takes in a tough extra 12 km mountain route across the peninsula before joining up with the Dingle Way Challenge route. Please note that the Ultra route should only be attempted by people with high endurance and fitness levels and mountain trekking experience. The trek is broken into 3 stages with refreshments at the end of every stage. Each participant will receive:
Bus from Blennerville, Tralee to the starting point and bus back to Blennerville at the end of each stage if only completing some of the sections or on completion of the trek.
Hot drinks, Hot breakfast, lunch, light refreshments, First Aid support at the end of the stages.
Hot showers are available on completion of the event. Certificate for completing the event.

Essential gear for participants:
Be prepared for the cold, rain or strong sun.
Warm clothes, comfortable walking boots and socks are essential.
A water and wind-proof jacket and some light layers for undergarments are recommended.
In a light backpack, bring water, snacks, sun cream and a mobile phone.
The Dingle Way Challenge is a walk and not a race
Each walker must hold a level of health & fitness appropriate to the event
All walkers are participating at their own risk

Buses leave St Pats GAA Blennerville at 4am sharp for the 57km Ultra route and at 6am for the standard 45km Dingle Way Challenege Route.
Please arrive 30 minutes before the relevent departure time.
