What's Included

How many times have you started to use a product and found yourself grumbling that you couldn’t figure it out, or that it was designed improperly? Innovative product design has the potential to change the way we interact with the world around us and to change entire markets forever. In this course, participants will work through a series of hands-on activities to discover the processes and mindset involved in the design of truly innovative products. Students will participate in a week-long, team-based student design challenge to create the most innovative new product. At the end of the week, students will have the opportunity to pitch their products to the Dragons’ Den Panel using their ideas, prototypes and newly developed pitching techniques to compete to be the designers of DEEP 2015’s most innovative new product.

About This Organizer

The Engineering Student Outreach Office (ESOO), created in Fall 2009, manages and administers the core outreach programs offered by the Faculty. We act as the central unit for outreach activities promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education to a wide audience. We design and deliver programs centrally, and coordinate the activities by other entities including student organizations, Faculty members, and Departments. The vast majority of outreach activities supported by ESOO are pre-university programming.

The Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering is committed to inspiring youth within the community and across the world through outreach programming that focuses on engineering and applied sciences. These programs range from summer live-in programs to weekend courses during the fall and spring terms.

Below is a listing of our current program offerings. Click on the links to find out more about each program.
