Learn how to produce French sounds correctly as well as the rhythm and intonation of the French language; corrective phonetics exercises will be used to correct ingrained sounds and pronunciation habits foreign to French. Program: Introduction to phonetics (A.P.I.); students will study the following three systems: prosodic system (syllabic equality, open syllabification, vowel and consonant sequencing, liaison, main stress, rhythm and intonation); vowel system (vowel tension, oral and nasal articulatory characteristics of vowels and semi-vowels, dropping the mute 'e' ); consonant system (articulatory characteristics of consonants, reduction of consonant clusters at the end of words, non-aspiration of voiceless occlusives, assimilation). Objectives Tape recording a text and an impromptu speech Basic notions Oral vowels, nasal vowels, semi-vowels and consonants The prosodic system Corrective phonetics Having fun with words Assessment


Before starting this course, you should have completed level A2.1 or been assessed at level A2.2 through a placement test, within 6 months of the beginning of the course.
