What's Included

Fundamentals of Neuroscience gives students a sense of current and advanced topics in the field of neuroscience and it’s future applications. It is inntended to provide a general introduction to the most essential principles of neuroscience. The goal of this course is to give a strong foundational understanding of the human brain and the techniques utilized in recent research. Topics cover neuroanatomy and the function of major brain regions, with a focus on the sensory and motor systems that are closely related to our daily activities. Additionally, students will experience demonstrations in classes, and have field trips to the neuroimaging centre equipped with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine at York University where they will experience the MRI process in the scanner as well as learn the basic MRI theory onsite.

Science Explorations offers fun, innovative and engaging camp programs designed to inspire youth and discover science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).  Based out of the Faculty of Science at York University, our camp programs use an discovery and inquiry-based learning approach that is focused on ‘learning by doing’. Our outreach model provides campers also get a chance to work in small groups on a variety of projects that will help foster problem solving, critical thinking, and an overall passion for STEM.

        Our camp takes place within the Faculty of Science at the Keele Campus of York University. Within the university environment, this gives campers the unique opportunity to learn and discover the amazing world of science and engineering . In each of our programs, whether in day-long workshops or  week-long camps, we enrich the learning experience with laboratory visits, faculty presentations, workshops and demonstrations from student groups, and much, much more!
