Freehand offers family art workshops on the third Sunday of each month. Bring the kids and create a one-of-a-kind treasure together. Each workshop is led by a Freehand instructor who takes you step-by-step through the project so no experience is necessary. Parents/caregivers and children can choose to make their own pieces or work on one piece together. Artwork may be ready to take home the same day or may need to be picked up at a later date. The instructional time will be 75-90 minutes and we give you the last 30 minutes to work at your own pace and enjoy the studio. Fees: $45 for one adult/child pair. Each additional family member is $20. Fees include all materials and firings for clay. HST is extra. Ages: 4 and up. Some projects may be suitable for younger children, just contact us to inquire. We ask that one adult be present for every 2 children attending. Family Workshop - April 17 - Secret Names The first letters many of us learn to write are those in our names, and we become particularly attached to the loops of our "O"s, or the crossing of our "T"s. Today we explore our names in a new way, paying attention to not only the curves, edges, and flourishes of the letters themselves, but to the space around these letters. After we have painted our names we will cut up our work and rearrange them into an abstract piece, letting the letters interact in a way they couldn't before, seeing in this collage a vision of our names and ourselves that we could hardly imagine. Inspired by the work of Cecil Touchon.
