About This Activity

Come join us for the 18th Annual Currahee Challenge - NOW A 5K AND 10K.  The start/finish will be at the Currahee Memorial, located at the base of Currahee Mountain just outside Toccoa, GA. The courses are out and back on some paved surfaces but mostly on the dirt road that runs up the side of Currahee Mountain.

Event details and schedule

Race Day Registration and Packet Pickup: Begins at 7AM.

5K: Starts at 8AM

10K:  Starts at 9AM 



Hwy 13/W. Currahee Street/Dicks Hill Pkwy between Hwy 184 and Currahee Mountain Road is closed for construction.  You will need to access Hwy 13/W Currahee Street/Dicks Hill Pkwy from Highway 365 (Hwy 123).  Directions follow:


From Highway 365 (Hwy 123), turn south on Rock Road.  

Rock Road dead ends into Hwy 13/Currahee Mountain Road/Dicks Hill Pwky.  Turn left.

Turn Right at Camp Toccoa at Currahee.


Medals presented to overall male/female, masters male/female and top three in age groups 10 & under through 75 & over.  Awards Ceremony will be at the Memorial immediately following the 5K and no later than 10:15AM for the 10K.

Timing and Results:

Finish line timing and results provided by Classic Race Services with complete results posted online at www.classicraceservices.com, www.active.com, www.athlinks.com and www.coolrunning.com.

Shirts and Goodies:

Shirts are guaranteed to those who register by 9/28/18.  Registrations after that date and on race day are not guaranteed a shirt or size.  There will be plenty of refreshments.  After race activities include a BBQ, hangar dance, WWII Living History, parade, airport show, banquet, memorabilia show, and Currahee Military Museum tours.

Series Affiliation:

The race is part of the 2018 Black Bag Race Series and the Run and See Georgia Grand Prix.

About the course:

The course is one of the toughest in Georgia.  It is run from the base of Currahee Mountain on the Colonel Robert Sink Trail, the training site of the 501st, 506th, 511th and 517th Parachute Infantry Regiments seen in Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan & The Dirty Dozen.

Other Info: In case of rain, the races will go on.  Delay of the start may happen in case of severe weather in the area at race time.  If severe weather continues, then the race director or local authorities may make the call to cancel the race at that time.  Sorry, no refunds.
