The seventh annual Tipperary Women's Mini Marathon will take place in Thurles on Sunday, 25th September at 11.00am. This event provides a great opportunity for women of all ages to get active and take part in a womens only event. All finishers will receive a specially designed race medallion and a technical tee-shirt. The event is registered with the AAI and all participants will be chip timed. There is also a charitable donation of €200 to the largest group to register who are rasing funds for a charitable cause. Spot prizes will also be distributed on the day.
The event was launched in July by International Athlete and former winner of the Tipperary Mini Marathon Siobhan O'Doherty.
Event details and schedule
This event will start at 11.00am following a warm up on the campus of LIT Thurles and will head over the Jimmy Doyle bridge and down to turn right on the Templemore road. Head into Thurles and across Liberty Square and head out the Horse and Jockey road. Head down Sleivenambon road, left around the roundabout at the shopping centre and out the Clongour road. Past the Golf Club up to Turtulla cross. Go across the Archerstown road to turn left onto the Littleton Road. Head back to Thurles along the Mill road to turn left at the roundabout on the Dublin road. In along Kickham Street and Left at the roundabout into Cathedral street. Head over the Suir Bridge into Liberty Square on the left side keeping right after the pedestrian traffic lights. Turn across the Square and head for the Templemore road. Out the Templemore to turn left at Cluin Glass and back over the Jimmy Doyle bridge to finish on the grounds of LIT.
Participants are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the event.
Participants must wear their official race numbers an chip timing, these may be collected at LIT Thurles, on Saturday 24th September 2016 between 10am and 2pm or Sunday 25th September 2016 between 8am and 9.30am.
Swapping of race numbers is not permitted.
Participants must be over 18 years of age.
No headphones to be worn by participants for safety reasons.
Parking will be available on the day in Thurles Crokes AC across the road from LIT.
Participants are responsible for their own safety and are participating at their own risk.
All participants must obey the rules of the road at all times, Beaware of other road users as this event will be run on open roads.
Participants must obey the instructions of the Gardai, the civil defence and event marshalls at all times.
