If you need housing for this class, you must register and sign up for the housing option by October 23rd! In this two-week intensive course, artist Ron Milewicz will guide students as they capture the human form with oil paints, working from a live model. Students will learn how working from observation can be an act of deep creative invention, where color, light and movement are used as metaphors for the physical and emotional experience of life. Students will engage in a process of truly ‘seeing’ that involves both rational analysis and an opening up to an intuitive understanding of the motif, and each will develop a unique and intelligent pictorial response to the image as it takes its place on the canvas. Milewicz will emphasize the relationship between color and light, and will teach students how to determine the tone, scale, rhythm, measure, shape and movement of their subject, in order to yield images that integrate structure with expression.
