"Course: Spanish Immersion Level: 2A Grades: K-2; 3-5 Prerequisites: None Course Length: 17-Weeks; 34 Classes; 34-Hours Schedule: 2 Days Per Week; 60 Mins per Class No classes on 3/17 & 3/18 Course Description: This course has been designed specifically for children to hear, speak, see and play in Spanish. From day one, children are fully immersed in an interactive course that encourages your child to develop as a language learner through the naturalist approach to language learning. ReDefiners’ classes promote and encourage communication in Spanish through Spanish. Children are introduced to language and cultural experiences that will help prepare them to be interculturally savvy in today’s globalized society. Course curriculum meets American Council on Teaching Foreign Languages (ACTFL) standards for language proficiency. Language Objectives: Greetings (Review) Introductions (Review) Following Classroom Commands Express days of the week, months of the year and dates Identify Shapes Express likes & Dislikes Talking about things in our world/everyday life Identify and express numbers 20-50 Utilize adjectives to describe oneself, family and parts Discuss ability Write statements expressing Favorite colors Communicate about school, classroom objects and extracurricular activities in writing and conversation Recognize and appropriately use the formal versus informal tenses Explore Honduras Assessment Outcomes: Students are expected to complete the following projects/activities with 80% accuracy and fluency Perform a video recorded role-play in pairs to incorporate at least 5 of the course objectives Design and present a 2-3 minute multimedia presentation Demonstrate mastery of course objectives via song, presentation, role play, etc during end of term Achievement Performance Complete an exit interview with instructor/assistant to demonstrate mastery of course objectives"
