What's Included

Advanced House Manners teaches campers how to use a clicker to achieve more advanced behaviors around the house and on neighborhood walks. This session will deal with eliminating behaviors such as excessive barking, counter surfing for food, and separation anxiety. Campers will also learn how to train a dog to go to his spot when someone knocks on the door or rings the doorbell, as well as the proper way to greet guests, to listen without treats, and to love bath time. Campers can choose to train their own dog, or they can work with a rescue puppy or dog available at camp. Dogs must be able to focus on their owner and work around other dogs. Campers must attend one session each of Basic Dog Training and Basic House Manners as a pre-requisite to register for this session. Campers may bring their own dog to camp for this session, provided the dog is current on all required vaccines* and can be controlled appropriately at all times by its owner. Up-to-date medical records must be provided prior to bringing your dog to camp. For campers choosing not to bring their own dog, a camp rescue dog or puppy will be provided. The session will also include animal-themed art projects and games. Session fee includes a t-shirt and all activities and materials. You will need to pack your camper’s lunch daily. *Required vaccines are DHLPP, Bordetella, and Rabies. No dogs under 12-weeks-old or without all vaccines are allowed.

About This Organizer

Animal Training Adventure summer camp offers kids and teens the opportunity to learn basic animal obedience training and more advanced animal training through “hands-on” activities using rescued dogs and puppies. Animal Training Adventure incorporates lessons and activities on dog behavior designed by Yale University’s School of the 21st Century and developed with renowned dog behavior expert Cesar Millan, as well as training skills and techniques developed by Kyra Sundance, a world-acclaimed Stunt Dog Show performer, celebrity dog trainer, and internationally bestselling author. Using these lessons and activities, campers will learn critical skills that will help them in their interactions with people (and animals) in school, at home, and later on in the workplace. This camp experience will support the development of calm, confident, and caring children and teens that can make a difference in the lives of people, animals, and the environment. In addition, campers will also learn how to manage their emotions, get along with others, acquire empathy and compassion, and discover essential decision-making and teamwork skills.

This camp uses rescued puppies and dogs to provide a live, interactive experience with all sizes and breeds of canine companions. Animals participating in our camp are rigorously tested for temperament and safety when working in a group setting by a professional dog handler prior to being selected. Some camp sessions allow campers to bring their own dog, if their dog meets all camp criteria and standards. Our session descriptions provide information on opportunities to have your own dog join in the fun.
