Continuing in 2018, Team Registration is again available! Team registration provide the opportunity to run/walk in honor of a loved one affected by sudden cardiac arrest or another heart related condition or to rally together a group such as a criminal justice association or local police department. Teams are easy to create and team names will be printed on the back of the race t-shirts and published on the event website!
This event is a special occasion to be inspired every step of the way by Joe's commitment to strength and endurance, his love of life and service to others. Joe was famous for saying he was just "Living the Dream", and achieved his dream of becoming a St. Paul Police Officer shortly before passing away suddenly in January 2008.
The Joe Plant Memorial Run/Walk supports Joe’s avid love of running, with a portion of the financial proceeds benefitting those whose goal it is to serve their communities through a scholarship fund at St. Cloud State University for students in the Criminal Justice Program.
More recently, the mission has expanded to also support Parent Heart Watch, dedicated to eliminating preventable deaths in youth from sudden cardiac arrest. The memorial fund supports Parent Heart Watch at the national and local level. We will continue our partnership with the St. Paul Parks and Recreation Department by donating a 3rd AED in the last 3 years. The AEDs are currently deployed right in Joe's hometown of St. Paul at Wilder Rec Center and Hazel Park Rec Center.
