Dear families:
The YMCA is pleased to offer child care for children of essential workers/first responders and children of families who have been displaced, evacuated or have lost property in the Pasadena, West LA and Central LA communities – please see attachments.
- Your local YMCA is opening its doors for children of essential workers and children of families who were displaced, evacuated or lost property. This child care program is designed to support children of essential workers and children of families who were displaced, evacuated or lost property, who cannot attend school because their school has closed for the day.
- This program is being offered at no-cost for children of essential workers and children of families who were displaced, evacuated or lost property. Free and open to the community.
- Children must be at least 4 years-old and 9 months to attend the program and must be in grades TK-8th.
- We have limited space available.
We are also please to open our YMCA’s for the week of January 13, 2025 to all teens, ages 12 and up. No YMCA membership is required. Details:
- Our YMCA’s are also free and open to all teens, ages 12 and up this week during all operating hours at all operating YMCA centers. Please see attachment.
- For a list of our 27 Y centers, please visit www.ymcala.org/locations.
- The links below are for those registering for TK-8 emergency child care. For teens, to obtain free access, their parent/guardian must complete this waiver; once completed, the teen participant must bring the completed waiver to their local YMCA center during the center’s hours of operation.
- Please note that our beloved Palisades-Malibu YMCA center was completely destroyed by the fire and is no longer operating a physical location. Our Santa Anita (Monrovia), Hollywood, Pasadena-Sierra Madre YMCA centers may have limited days and hours of operations (please contact them directly for operating hours). ALL OTHER YMCA CENTERS ARE Free & Open to all teens this the week of January 13th, 2025.

Here are the important details for our free child care program for children grades TK-8:
- You must register via the YMCA portal using your YMCA username and password. If you are new to the YMCA, you will be able to create a new account at the registration links below.
- For our Pasadena emergency child care location, the program is planned to operate Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, for the week of January 13th. For our West LA and Central LA emergency child care location, we plan to operate Monday, January 13 and will extend days, as needed.
- If your child currently attends a YMCA after school program or if your child has attended a YMCA day camp program in the year 2024 or 2025, and your child has a completed YMCA CampDoc profile, no additional paperwork is needed.
- If your child does not have a completed YMCA CampDoc profile, please complete this emergency form and waiver and bring it with you when you drop-off your child (we will also have printed copies available if you wish to complete it in-person while at the program – please ensure you have registered for a program before bringing your child. You must enroll online first. IF you are having issues enrolling online, you are welcome to register in-person, should space be available):

- Both the signed Emergency Forms and signed Waiver are required for participation, unless your child has a complete YMCA CampDoc profile.
- Please bring/send your child to the program with an AM/PM snack, a water bottle and sack lunch. If your child has homework or school work, please send them with their assignments and any school technology (like Chromebook) that they may need to access digital learning. We have free Wi-Fi available. Although not required, children may bring a face mask to wear and other personal protective equipment.
- Please note that all activities at the YMCA will remain indoors unless the air quality is determined to be safe enough to go outside. Doors and windows will remain close to ensure that our air filtration systems are working properly. We will provide fun activities like arts and crafts, games and sports, all indoors.
- We will provide adequate staffing from our before and after school programs. You can meet the program director at sign-in. Our staff are CPR/First Aid certified and trained in child development, youth development, safety and risk management.
- Please be sure to have a photo ID at pick-up. This is required.
- If your child has allergies or requires medication during the day, please let us know as soon as possible, after you register.
