What's Included

Just like culinary arts students and pastry chefs, you’ll try to conquer the perfect crusts for pies and tarts. With crusts that you make from scratch of course, you’ll bake a long list of savories – chicken pot pie, meat pies, potato tarts, lattice tarts and quiches. AND you’ll bake an enticing long list of sweets – pecan pie, rhubarb-raspberry galletes, banana cream pie, fruit tarts and mini pies. You’ll leave on Friday knowing a skill that will last a lifetime – your own perfect crusts – and scores of ways for filling them. Instructor: Dawnula Koukol

About This Organizer

Coyote Central challenges young adolescents to build competence and creativity through hands-on workshops with professionals in creative fields. Since its founding in 1986, Coyote has engaged over 13,000 youth in a wide range of programs mentored by professionals in creative fields. Independent problem-solving at Coyote builds adolescents’ confidence and expands their sense of personal possibility, not only in the studio but also out in the community. Through Hit the Streets, at-risk youth work with professional artists to design and build major public art for their neighborhoods. Through CoyoteWorks, immigrant youth and those at-risk for violence learn culinary or woodworking skills and perform public service. Through CityWorks, youth make public art through commissions from local businesses and organizations like Seattle Center, Starbucks, Pacific Place or King County Metro. Coyote youth are empowered to go beyond their middle-school experience and discover that they too can make a difference.
