Volcanoes, earthquakes and landslides here in Scottsdale? Learn about the geology of our McDowell Sonoran Preserve from Brian Gootee, a geologist with 20 plus years of experience who co-discovered the Preserve’s Marcus Landslide a vivid reminder that landslide hazards are present in the American Southwest. Sonoran Sunday Family and friends of all ages - The McDowell Sonoran Conservancy welcomes our partners on select Sunday afternoons to present topics on the Sonoran Desert and it's wild and wonderful creatures. These presentations are designed for guests ages six and up. Restrooms are available at Brown’s Ranch, Tom’s Thumb, Gateway, and Lost Dog Wash Trailheads. Please arrive a few minutes prior to the presentation to check in.
