40 Acres of Hell 2015 is a non-traditional Triathlon where you kayak, run and bicycle. It takes place around beautiful Arkansas Lake Dardanelle in Russellville. Races start and finish at Arkansas Lake Dardanell State Park-Russellville.
Two events are offered. The Sprint is a shorter race and suitable for beginner to advanced athletes. The Punisher is just as it’s name says-It’s tough, challenging and for all who love a challenge.
The Sprint begins with a 2 Mile Kayak on Lake Dardanelle, followed by a 2.5 mile run inside the park-(road & trail run), and finishes with a hilly 13 mile paved road bicycling leg.
The Sprint will be staged with 2 Waves. Pre-race meeting is at 8am. The first wave starts at 8:30 and the second wave will start aproximately around 9:15 after the last Kayak returns from the first wave. Waves will be co-ed but times and places will be separted by male and female.
Looking for a challenge? You will find it with THE PUNISHER!
This race starts with a fast 2 Mile sprint through Lake Dardanelle State Park-a mix of road and trail. Before catching your breath you find yourself paddling 2.5 miles across Lake Dardanelle to the Illinois Bayou Boat Ramp. Now the tough part starts! First comes a 2.5 hill run that will make even the toughest guy cry, followed by a very hilly 21 Mile Bike ride-There’s one hill where very few have actually made it to the top without getting off their bikes!. The final leg is a 2.5 mile paddle back to Dardanelle State Park for the finish.
THE PUNISHER isn’t so much about winning but about finishing – Finding out what you’re made of – Digging deep inside to keep going all the way to the end.
The Punisher starts at 10:00am with Pre-race meeting at 9.
There is limited space available so register early to assure yourself a spot in one of the toughest races in the Arkansas River Valley.
Note: Kayaks and PFD’s will be provided for all racers; No personal kayaks allowed; Bicycle helmets required on the bike leg.
