Ohio Triathlon is proud to present a virtual COVID to 5k program!
The days are getting longer and spring is just around the corner! The number of COVID cases are down and with the available vaccinations restrictions should start being lifted soon. If you’re like me, you can’t wait to get back to being around people and playing outside again :).
Our COVID-to-5k (couch to 5k) program is completely free, feel free to use our couch to 5k training plan! We have found that most people are more likely to succeed of they also sign up for an event to keep them motivated. We recommend signing up for our virtual 5k :).
Anyone who wants to work up to being able to walk or run a 5k.
A 10 week couch to 5k program consisting of 3 days per week of activity to build you up to be able to walk or run a 5k. You pick what days work best for you!
The wonders of technology have allowed us to be able to do things anywhere in the world and still be able to keep in touch.
We will also be making weekly appearances throughout the community (locations TBD).
The registration will be open 4/2/21 through 6/25/21. Complete a 5k distance within that time frame to receive a finisher T-Shirt.
Getting outside and being active has been scientifically proven to have significant health benefits. You’ll also get access to exclusive giveaways at the weekly location, and you will be invited to join our closed facebook group for weekly updates from Ohio Triathlon, and the ability to network with the other couch to 5k’ers that have signed up.
HOW : Simply track your 5k run with any device and share it with us.
Use any free running app (strava, mapmyrun, runkeeper, etc) and send us a screenshot. You can post it on our facebook page, the closed facebook group or email it to us directly!
As with any physical activity, we recommend consulting with your physician before beginning any exercise program.
Why is the event virtual?
Unfortunately we were unable to secure a venue to host us safely due to COVID. Thankfully by going virtual, we can include our friends from all over!
I could never run a 5k.
First, that’s not a question. Second, the first workout starts with 1 minute jogging intervals. Even if you can’t run, you can alternate between walking slowly and walking briskly. Almost anyone can do it!
