Welcome to the first annual Cupcake race series to benefit the Caddo Bossier City Cancer Foundation League. All proceeds go to assisting local cancer patients with financial needs obtain the treatments needed to beat cancer. Given the unusual times we are in with COVID-19, we decided to make this a virtual event. This also gives us a lot a flexability in creating this race. The race period will be over a 2 week time period during October and November for breast cancer and men's health awareness months. That means you can do the race at a time that works for you. You get to pick your distance and complete it in one or multiple workouts. Have you ever wanted to do a half marathon but don't think that 13.1 miles at one time is possible? Then break it up into 1 mile a day over the two weeks. Or, make a team and each member can complete a portion. You can walk and/or run. Just record the time it takes to finish the distance to prove you finished and get some awesome swag to show off your accomplishment. All the while, you get to do something healthy while you help support cancer patients in Northwest Louisiana.
Event details and schedule
The race will take place starting October 24th through November 8th. That gives you 2 weeks to complete your chosen distance. You can pick your own time and place, inside on the treadmill or out on your favorite trail. Pick your distance: 1 mile to half marathon. Finish it in one workout or break it up into smaller activities. For the half marathon, there is a team relay option. Your team can complete each portion independently or all together or as a proper relay. Teams can have up to 4 members and members can complete multiple legs or have unequal distances for each member. Record the workout(s) on your favorite device (phone, smartwatch, fitness tracker) to submit to prove you did the work and earned the swag. For those less connected to fitness tracking and virtual racing, we will share tutorials for recording and uploading later.
