Running, Jazzercise

Age:  47

Job: Jazzercise instructor, cross-country coach

How I got started in sports: I've taken Jazzercise classes for 25 years. In 2005 a friend invited me to join her in the La Jolla Half Marathon. Two years and 14 races later, I am running at a national level.

Athletic highlights: Finishing the 2007 Palm Springs Half Marathon in 1:30:21.

Athletic goals: Run a half marathon in under 90 minutes, a 5k in 19, and to keep running for 40 more years.

Life/sport philosophy: Love what you do and the rest will follow.

Favorite indulgence: Non-fat green tea lattes, cosmopolitans with my girlfriends and pedicures.

Inspiration: The high school cross-country girls I coach--I'm inspired by their potential and work ethic.

Best advice I've received about running: Rest days and easy runs are just as important as the long runs or speed workouts.
