We're sorry, but this program is over. The last meeting was Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

Linda Simko and Catie Bullen will remind us of the benefits of healthy trees and forests while explaining what threats face our forests today. They will also go over what can be done to combat climate change to help trees and what organizations are working on solutions now. Linda Simko earned her BSN undergraduate nursing degree at Northern Illinois University and her MSN -Masters in Psychiatric Nursing at the University of Illinois at the Medical Center. Linda retired in 2019. In August, 2022 she joined the Citizen’s Climate Lobby (CCL) and became the Committee Leader for Urban Trees, one of their four key policy areas. She is an avid vegetable and outdoor gardener and grower of houseplants. Catie Bullen has been a resident of McHenry County for almost 10 years and is interested in natural areas and biodiversity conservation and other environmental issues. Her undergraduate and MS research related conservation of native plants and the ecology of plant-mycorrhizal mutualisms. She is currently employed by the University of Chicago as a data quality engineer.
