The Pacific Electric Challenge (formerly known as he Cucamonga Challenge) is an annual running (5K • 10K) and cycling (25-mile • 50-mile) event open to all ages and skill levels sponsored by the Friends of the Pacific Electric Trail to promote family, fun, and fitness while raising funds to enhance the 21-mile regional Pacific Electric trail.
2019 marks the 14th annual spring event taking place on the Pacific Electric Trail (P.E.Trail), a multi-purpose public recreational trail created from an abandoned railroad corridor.
Each participant chooses one (1) event:
Half Century Bike Ride (Not Timed)
25-mile Bike Ride (Not Timed)
The 5K & 10K will be on the P.E. Trail while the cycling events start on the P.E. Trail and continues onto the city streets. The streets are not blocked off and all riders must obey ALL traffic laws. Helmets required.
This year's focus is saving lives.
Our mission is to promote active lifestyles through the use of the PE Trail.
However, an alarming fact is nearly 1,000 people suffer from an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest each day of which the survival rate is only 1 in 10.
37% of those out-of-hospital cardiac arrests are witnessed by an untrained bystanders. The ability to provide CPR until EMS arrives on scene will increase chance of survival.
The Friends of the PE Trail is partnering with the SPERA Foundation, USA, to create Heart-Safe Neighborhoods by providing FREE CPR training to local residents.
You will have the opportunity to sign up future CPR classes at the PE Challenge.
