We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Sunday, October 27, 2019.

Level: Low Intermediate-Intermediate, Ball Type: Foam, Green Dot, High Compression, Court Size: 60' & 78?, Tournament Level: USTA Sanctioned Entry Level or Non-Sanction Competition

Silver 8-11 is the next level after Bronze 8-11 in our Junior Development Pathway, however, since this is a weekend class and only meets once per week, recreational match play is not offered as a part of the class development and curriculum, except for on a drop-in basis on Friday?s from 3:45-5:15pm. It?s vital that all Silver weekend players be able to perform Silver level requirements to drop-in and drop-in match play is an additional $16 per class (Pro approval is required for match play drop-ins). Silver 8-11 weekend class is a ton of fun, with a lot of athletic movement, and high energy instruction from our USPTA/USPTR Certified Tennis Professionals. Silver 8-11 is specifically designed for younger players to focus on more advanced movement, agility, racquet preparations, rallies, placement, recreational competition and point play for singles and doubles. Players will continue to work on fundamentals, but should already know how to score, and be comfortable with the basic serve, groundstrokes, volleys and overhead fundamentals, as players will be introduced to stroke preparations on the run, the slice serve, return of serve and additional ball control using shape, spin and placement on their groundstrokes. As players develop, coaches will separate players abilities to create level compatibility throughout the session, so that our 2 tiers of development criteria are fully utilized to optimize player development.

Player graduation can be much longer for this class, as students are only meeting one time a week, so it is recommended that students take additional private/semi-private lessons or play with parents, siblings or friends outside of class to help with your child or children?s development process. In our ?weekday? Silver 8-11 program, it takes a player approximately 12-24 months to graduate and Pro approval is REQUIRED to move to the next level of development.

NOTE: Weekend classes utilize the same tier pathway development criteria as the weekday classes do.

Player pathway development criteria is posted online at https://www.portlandoregon.gov/parks/article/683002 or posted in the PTC lobby. If you have any questions about the junior program, please call PTC @ 503-823-3189 or contact PTC Tennis Coordinator Bret Bowers by email: Bret.Bowers@PortlandOregon.gov
