Connect with local Portland Artists at PAM CUT for workshops designed to inspire your creativity and expand your thinking about your artistic practice. No art making experience required, participants will learn from working media and storytelling artists about their art making practice, then experiment with new materials, techniques, and prompts. You’ll leave with new ways to spark creativity and stories to tell! Get ready for a literary and artistic adventure that is not your mama’s traditional poetry reading! Join the talented Portland iIllustrator and art director Elizabeth Haidle, for an exhilarating exploration of the intersection of text and image as you translate your favorite poem into a panel format comic. Elizabeth will teach a variety of diverse layouts spotlighting the interplay of words and image. Through this creative process, you’ll sharpen your storytelling skills and craft your unique visual language. You can experiment with iconography ranging from abstract shapes and colors, to direct depictions of the text. We’ll dive into the world of two dimensional media, including pen and ink, pencil and even digital drawing to transform cherished poems into vibrant poetry comic illustrations. We’ve curated a treasure trove of poems by local wordsmiths for your inspiration, or you can bring your personal favorite, and reimagine the connection between literary and visual storytelling. To wrap up the day, we’ll gather for a group share to celebrate the work of our UnStuck artists. Enjoy an unforgettable literary and artistic journey dedicated to shaking up your artistic vision and provoking your creative practice. Workshops are limited to 18 participants of any skill level. Participants are encouraged to bring a snack and any personal art supplies that spark creativity.
