Teens are welcome to join us on a week-long backpacking trip along a 200-acre private parcel on land in the New Hampshire wilderness. Trip will be led by Phil Bailey. Students will practice critical thinking and problem solving skills on a backpacking adventure in New Hampshire. We'll ensure that everyone is properly prepared to be self-sufficient, then introduce camp craft and wilderness travel skills as we move through our experience. These skills include incident/accident prevention and response, wilderness first aid, navigation, cooking, sanitation, and Leave No Trace wilderness ethic. In addition to basic backpacking and wilderness travel, other possible activities include rock climbing and bouldering, and search and rescue drills. These activities will be used as platforms to introduce and master conflict resolution skills, accountability, and peer leadership. We will deal with controllable and uncontrollable variables which will force us to think through natural and imposed consequences of our group decision-making abilities and actions. And we'll have fun!
