About this event

Pickleball Advanced Clinic sessions are designed to transform intermediate players into advanced players by improving their skills. The student successfully completing the Advanced Clinic can consistently play long sustained rallies, varied shot types, good reaction during fast exchanges, good success at drop shots from various places on the court, consistent and varied serves, understands court positioning and partnership cooperation. The major focus of the Advanced Clinic is to refine the student’s playing style, improve proficiency in shot making, increase the effectivity of positioning and cooperative play in doubles, and develop court and opponent awareness to take advantage of positioning on both sides of the net.
While there are many topics addressed in the Advanced Clinic, these topics serve as an introduction of these techniques. Coached play at the end of each session will help the student improve effectiveness of those techniques for later use and help toward moving to advanced skill levels.
Level of Instruction: Advanced – Adults. Candidates for the Advanced Clinic should be playing at the level of 3.0 – 3.5 in accordance with USAPA. Players should have above average court awareness, have several serve options, understand team positioning, and choose appropriate position based on play (guarding open area and preparing for opponent reactions).
Skills/Fundamentals Learned: Participants will learn: Specialty shots and position, more awareness of special shots (ATP, erne, overheads, and spinning dinks) • Take advantage of attackable balls and position, understanding your own ability to attack balls, spatial awareness of the entire court for shot placement • Shot placement (depth, pace, location based on opponent position) • Serve options (drop serve, spin serve), chainsaw serve (varying depth, pace, and position of service) • Court position options (consistent play from the baseline, consistent play from the transition zone, consistent play from NVZ, choosing appropriate position based on play, choosing approaches based on partnership) • Developing court awareness (movement around the court adapting to play progress, reset shots to permit partnership to regain composure, attacking opponents to force errors)
