10 Tips for Traveling with Kids

3. Plan in Advance

Summertime and holiday weekends are busy, and other families just like yours are likely to be traveling. Start your planning as early as January to ensure you get a spot.

4. Make Frequent Rest Stops

On road trips, it takes much longer to get to where you're going if you have to stop every hour or so, but pit stops and meal breaks give the kids a chance to get out of the car or RV, run around a bit, and burn energy. Also, you can't underestimate the importance of frequent bathroom stops.

5. Pack Plenty of Entertainment

Today's children are surrounded by technology, much of it for entertainment. So it's unreasonable to think they'll be content staring out a window at rolling landscape or clouds, no matter how restful you may think it is. If you aren't a huge fan of electronic gadgets, bring books or other car games.
