Please join Ann McMillan for a play day of experimenting with encaustic collage and painting. Encaustic painting is a fascinating medium using hot melted beeswax mixed with pigments; it has a lovely satiny finish and vibrant colors. We will focus on making small paintings with inlaid collage elements. The class will cover proper handling of hot wax materials, and work with using a heat gun and brushes. A variety of collage materials can be added to the wax including pressed leaves and flowers, disassembled books, maps, photographs, and whatever students want to bring in. Check Ann's website at drawpaintstudio.com for an overview of hot wax techniques and samples of work. Supplies included for a $30 materials fee payable to the instructor.
