CrossFit Oswestry is proud to offer the Strength and Power Series of Events for Male, Female, Male Masters (40+) and Female Masters (40+).

During each scheduled date, there shall be three tests of strength and Power. This is the first date in the series, which shall test the following:

1. 1 RM Deadlift (no straps or suits)

2. 10 RM Overhead Press

3. Max reps Back Squat at Bodyweight in 4 minutes

Scoring shall be based on the load sucessfully lifted for events 1 & 2, and the number of repetitions sucessfully completed in event 3.

 

Event details and schedule

Schedule:

Registration 10:00

Athlete Breifing 10:30

Event 1 heats commence 11:00

Event 2 heats commence 13:00

Event 3 heats commence 15:00

Presentations 17:00

Event descriptions:

Event 1: The Deadlift will be performed as a 6 stage ladder. Each ladder shall increment by 5kg every 2 mins. Athlete may choose to start at any ladder. Straps or suits are NOT permitted.

Ladder loads as follows:

1. 40-65kg
2. 70-95kg
3. 100-125kg

4. 130-155kg

5. 160-185kg

6. 190-215kg

7. 220-245kg

8. 250-275kg 

The score shall be the highest load sucessfuly lifted.

Event 2: The bar in the Overhead press will be taken from the floor. The bar MUST be moved from the collar bone to overhead in any way, with elbows fully locked out. Athletes may make as many attempts as desired in the 6 minutes available. The bar must not be dropped or re-racked during a 10 rep attempt. The score is the highest load completed for 10 sucessful repetitions.

Event 3: Back Squat for Max Reps'. Athletes take the bar from the rack and have 4 minutes to perform as many reps as possible at bodyweight (nearest 5kg rounding down). Reps MUST be below parallel, and MUST reach extension at the top of each rep. The bar may be re-racked multiple times during the 4 minutes. The score shall be the total reps accumulated in the 4 minutes available.
