TRAVEL TO LAWRENCE with the man who invented the game of Basketball and was the 1st coach of the Kansas JayHawks, Dr. James Naismith. Local 1st person historian, Bill Nicks, will portray while you learn how this orphan, medical doctor, ordained minister, grandfather, soldier came to invent the great game the world loves and much much more. The tour includes Naismith's memorial, his grave, the site of the 1st KU game, homes where Naismith lived, Allen Fieldhouse and THE ORIGINAL RULES OF BASKETBALL. Eat lunch on Massachusetts Street. We'll then spend the afternoon back on the bus learning what Quantrill did, what intersections of town he did it, what the key buildings were, where the bodies are buried, how he and 400 raiders got away, how important people like Senator James Lane and Governor Charles Robinson survived and how the mayor did not, and why weren't there any weapons or guards available to fight him.Cost of lunch at your own expense.Location: Lobby at Olathe Community Center
