We've adjusted the course to make the most out of our idyllic race, a true mountain run. The 2.5-Mile Challenge starts and finishes at Timberline Lodge, and runs the length of the Mountaineer Trail from right to left, from 6000 feet to nearly 7000 feet in elevation, and back. You can jog, walk, or run.
The 5-Mile Race completes the same course, except instead of turning off into the finish, you run up to the Timberline Trail, take it West to the Mountaineer intersection, and then run the alpine section again, but from left to right. Both events will be timed, both start at 10am, and both finish under the Y'Bar patio.
As challenging as it is to race, it's extremely scenic and fun just to complete, especially with the cold craft brew and hot dogs at the Y'Bar balcony overlooking the finish line.
You don't have to run on a team, but as it's the home of the Mountain Running Team Championships, you can simply list your team name to compete for the trophy. There is no limit to team size, except that you need at least two people overall, and at least one female on your team. Team points are heavily weighted toward participation, so the larger your team, the greater your score.
