What's Included

Explore the multi-faceted genre of creative nonfiction, which encompasses writing about real events, from your personal past to the world at large. Learn about the many possible forms and styles, and write your own short pieces, transforming true stories into compelling literary works. Several categories, including personal essay, memoir, feature articles, reviews/criticism, travel, humor, and nonfiction narratives. Review published examples, get craft instruction, and learn to bring techniques and skills of storytelling to the nonfiction page, including dialogue, character development, narrative arc, scene building, and telling details. Stretch your writing muscles with weekly assignments and receive private instructor feedback. Work with prompts, get reading suggestions, and enjoy in-class discussions.

About This Organizer

The Writers Circle offers creative writing workshops for children and adults in South Orange, Maplewood and Summit, NJ.
TWC's weekly workshops for children and adults inspire, support and encourage writers at every stage and age.
For children, The Writers Circle's creative writing workshops tap into children’s natural enthusiasm and free their creative spirit. But instead of using toys or costumes, we use the most powerful creative tool ever created – the written word.

For adults, we offer morning and evening classes, mixed genre and specialized workshops. Ongoing critique, companionship and inspiration move each writer toward their own best work.

The Writers Circle also hosts guest speakers, community events, and our fabulous Summer Creative Writing Intensives for teens.
