Description
We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
Note: All Swim Lessons at George Elder Park Pool
1950 Wilcox Ave.
Prerequisite: Parent is required to accompany child into the water during class time.
Developed for children 6 months to 5 years of age. American Red Cross Parent and Tot builds swimming readiness by emphasizing fun in the water. Parents and children participate in several guided practice sessions that help children learn elementary skills, including water entry, bubble blowing, front kicking, back floating, underwater exploration and more. Once children can perform basic skills without parental assistance, they may begin Learn-to-Swim courses.
Message to the parents/guardians:
It is important to introduce your child to water at an early age to reduce the risk of drowning. Both parent and child will be in the water with an instructor as a group. Parents will learn the proper handling techniques and will be introduced to some fundamental skills important for being in the water. The interaction with other kids at this age helps build social confidence in the child.
This is a fun and playful environment for your child to learn to be comfortable in the water and learn the fundamentals of swimming.
We encourage all parents/guardians to bring proper swim suits for both the parent and the child, swim diapers to prevent any accidents, sun block, and towels. Please know that the pool water is between 81 - 84 degrees. I hope this answers any questions you may have. If you have any other questions please feel free to email simaizumi@montereypark.ca.gov
We hope to see you soon!
