Every culture has its own superstitions. Chinese culture with its rich history is particularly rich in beliefs, customs, and superstitions. Why Chinese don’t sweep the floor on New Year’s Day? Why 8 is a lucky number and 4 is a curse? Why Chinese don’t flip fish on a plate or jab chopsticks in a bowl of rice? Campers will be introduced to some of superstitions through Chinese Festival celebrations and daily life experience. Students will learn the symbolic meanings of these superstitions and carry out some fun activities to turn bad luck into good fortune. Campers will develop a broader appreciation for Chinese culture and showcase their learning through a Chinese Shadow puppet play on the final day of the camp! Let’s come explore with us!
